Hi, I'm Andrew III but I'm known as Andy to my friends and coworkers. I'm married and a father of two young adults.

I graduated from Bloomfield Senior High School, Bloomfield, NJ in 1967 and spent five years at Massachusetts Institute of Technology aka MIT. I left MIT in 1973 without completing my degree and returned to New Jersey.

I was hired as a lab technician/bench chemist by Mona Industries in Paterson NJ in April 1973. In 1976, I met Paulette, my wife, who was working as an executive assistant to my boss. We were married in September 1979. Our son, Andrew IV was born in September 1980 and our daughter Elizabeth was born in April 1983. We lived in Waldwick NJ from 1981 to 1988 and have resided in Park Ridge NJ since 1988.

After eight years in R&D, I moved to the production area as the Plant Chemist. In 1998, Mona Industries was acquired by ICI and incorporated into a business unit called Uniqema. In 2003, Uniqema announced plans to close the Paterson site with the products manufactured at Paterson to be transfered to a new facility in New Castle, Delaware. I have worked to support the transfer of the Paterson technology to DE and have continued to work part time in DE after the Paterson site closed in October 2005.

My wife is a director of a day care center, my daughter has a degree from Brandeis and works in advertising in NYC and my son has a MBA and works in the IT department of a building supply company. In November 2005, my son married Alice who is a music teacher in Rockland county NY.

I have a few interests as listed below. Most of my adult life I have been too busy with work and family to "smell the roses" so I am looking forward to retirement and a chance to travel and explore.

I have suffered from depression at times and still take medication for it. It is one of those things that occur when life changes and one cannot quite figure out how to handle the change. It is my hope that using this journal can help me through my life changes.
